Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy

Dear user of WFL services,

Hope you had a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Following the government’s announcement yesterday placing the country in a temporary lockdown, we can reassure you we are still here for you in these difficult times.  If you need urgent support which requires you to attend Well for Life, please ring us and make an appointment so we can manage numbers in the building to ensure your safety.  If you need to talk to someone about anything, we are just at the end of the line.  Ring us on the office number 01332 204020 or the mobile 07561 550100 or email us.

Due to the pandemic, our plans for our Annual General Meeting have been put on hold until March this year; the date will be confirmed nearer the time.   We would be grateful if you can still however, complete and return the Trustee nomination forms back to us via email.

 For our virtual online drop in on Wednesdays, it will start at 11 am and will be open for anyone who wishes to join in for any topic you wish to talk about.  If you wish to join in, you will need to let us know by 9am every Tuesday, so we can send you the link to access video calling. 

We will all get through these strange times and talking and offering support to one another can help us all to stay positive and hopeful about returning back to some normality soon.

Following the government announcement this weekend of a national lockdown to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus, Well for Life will be suspending its Wednesday drop-ins from 4th November 2020 until further notice.

Our Virtual Wednesday Drop-in service will continue which has been a regular success.  If you wish to take part in the virtual drop-in, please let us know which Wednesday you wish to join in, so we can send you the link. If you need individual virtual one to one support, we can also arrange that with you at a convenient weekday and time.  Alternatively you can ring or email us with any concerns/support needs.

We are here to support you in these uncertain times as best we can, so if you need to see us in person for urgent support which cannot be done virtually, contact us to make an appointment to attend the centre.  Social distancing will be implemented during these meetings and strict COVID rules will be followed when attending the centre.

It is clear from the reduced number of contacts we have experienced since the recent announcements around the Corona Virus, that many of you may be staying at home. We do not have a problem with this but need to stress that should you need emergency assistance of any kind during these times we are here for you 24/7 and will try to help you best we can.

The following action plan will be implemented as from today 18/03/2020

John will staff the office Monday-Thursday 10.00 – 4.00 if you need a face to face appointment for important form filling etc you can make an appointment by phone or email and be seen by John (social distancing will be implemented during these meetings) likewise under exceptional circumstances if your situation requires a home visit.

All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We sincerely hope that neither you or the people close to you have been impacted by this indiscriminate and horrendous virus that has shaken the very foundation of our society.

We have missed being able to offer you the services that we know you need, and we are looking forward to seeing you again as soon as possible.

Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible, and prior to re-opening the WFL Centre, we have implemented a number of changes which we would like to make you aware of. We have since made a number of changes in the way that we operate that you will notice when you next visit.

Booking Appointments

If any of our staff feel ill or have symptoms of C0VlD-19, they will self-isolate immediately and not come into the WFL Centre. This may mean that we have to cancel your appointment at short notice. We appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is canceled, you will be able to re-book again.

If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of COVID-19, please advise us as soon as possible and DO NOT COME TO THE WFL CENTRE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.

Visiting the WFL Centre

For your safety and to maintain social distancing, we ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving.

On arrival, please use the hand sanitiser before signing in, please then proceed to the RED chair at the end of the table furthest from the front door. Someone will then come down from the office to see you.

We have increased the frequency of cleaning in the WFL Centre including making sure that common surfaces, toilets door handles, etc. are wiped clean using disinfectant products between each client.

You will have access to soap and hot water to wash your hands with as soon as you enter the WFL Centre and we will also have hand sanitiser available for you to use when you come into the Centre.

We will understand and not be offended if you wish to wear a facemask or wear disposable gloves when you visit the centre and during your appointment.

Please don’t be surprised or upset if our staff use personal protective equipment (PPE) during your visit and during your visit. This may include disposable gloves/facemasks where appropriate.

Our Services

We have carried out a risk assessment on all services and we are confident that we can continue to provide these safely. Two exceptions apply, however, and include the Wednesday Drop-in and Home visits which will not take place for the foreseeable future.

We know how important Drop-ins are for you, so we are planning to introduce “virtual drop-ins” where you can connect and chat with us face to face via your phone, tablet, or computer. Details about this service and how to log in will be available via email and social media.

During Your Visit

Our staff understands the importance of hand hygiene and we will ensure that we wash our hands in accordance with NHS recommendations before the start of your visit.

We will try to make your visit as safe, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your visits please let us know and we will do what we can to satisfy you.

All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and that of our staff. We will continue to take advice from the Government and the NHS regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.
